REMEMBER ME

(The inspiration for this song came from listening to a Remembrance Day program hosted by Stu Monroe a local radio personality. Stu mentioned a photo of a soldier that had the words remember me written on the back.)

SPOKEN: A MAN STOPPED BY ONE DAY TO VISIT HIS MOTHER. HE SAT DOWN AT THEIR OLD PIANO AND WHILE HE WAS PLAYING HIS EYES WERE DRAWN TO A PICTURE OF HIS FATHER, THE FATHER HE HAD NEVER MET, YOU SEE HIS DAD HAD GONE OFF TO WAR, JUST BEFORE HIS SON WAS BORN, HE REMOVED THE PICTURE FROM ITS FRAME AND DISCOVERED THAT ON THE BACK WERE WRITTEN TWO WORDS "REMEMBER ME".

I SAT THERE AND I THOUGHT ABOUT, THE MAN I'D NEVER KNOW

HIS WORDS REACHED OUT ACROSS THE YEARS, AND TOUCHED MY VERY SOUL

I WONDERED WHEN HE WROTE THEM, DID HE KNOW HE'D NEVER SEE

FOR HIS WIFE AND CHILD A WORLD AWAY, TWO WORDS, REMEMBER ME

REMEMBER ME, WHEN THE SUNSHINE BURNS THROUGH THE MORNING MIST

I LONG TO SEE, AND HOLD THE BABY BOY, THAT I HAVE NEVER KISSED

REMEMBER ME, WHEN YOU TOUCH THE SNOW, OR TASTE THE MORNING DEW

BECAUSE WHEREVER I AM, I WILL BE WITH YOU

AND IF THE DRUMS OF WAR, SHOULD BEAT AND BRING ME DOWN

AND SHOULD MY BODY FALL, UPON SOME FOREIGN GROUND

MY SPIRIT SHALL ARISE, AND COME TO YOU ACROSS THE SEA

AND I WILL NEVER DIE, IF YOU REMEMBER ME

REMEMBER ME, WHEN THE SUNSHINE BURNS THROUGH THE MORNING MIST

I LONG TO SEE, AND HOLD THE BABY BOY, THAT I HAVE NEVER KISSED

REMEMBER ME, WHEN YOU TOUCH THE SNOW, OR TASTE THE MORNING DEW

BECAUSE WHEREVER I AM, I WILL BE WITH YOU

AND AS I PUT THE PICTURE BACK IN ITS MAGIC PLACE

I SWORE THAT IT HAD CHANGED, THERE WAS A SMILE UPON THE FACE

I WALKED AWAY, WITH THOUGHTS ABOUT, THE MAN I NEVER KNEW

I SAID MY DAD YOU'LL ALWAYS BE, AND I'LL REMEMBER YOU

REMEMBER YOU, WHEN THE SUNSHINE BURNS THROUGH THE MORNING MIST

REMEMBER YOU, WHEN I HOLD THE GRANDSON, YOU HAVE NEVER KISSED

REMEMBER YOU, WHEN I TOUCH THE SNOW OR TASTE THE MORNING DEW

WHEREVER I AM DAD, I'LL REMEMBER YOU

MY FATHER YOU WILL ALWAYS BE, AND I'LL REMEMBER YOU
